This project took an immensely difficult topic to explain – the world of blockchains and distributed ledgers – and translated it to a broader audience with the story of a real-world proof-of-concept called Digital Street. As part of HM Land Registry’s ambition to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data, it was imperative that the animation described Digital Street in a simple and easy-to-understand way, yet still explaining the benefits in a detailed, comprehensive and engaging way.
The animation we created took an enormous amount of planning; storyboarding each section to ensure accuracy and detail throughout. A design style of a nodal network was adopted, where individual elements would ‘ping’, ‘react’ and ‘connect’ with other elements. This virtual feel was integrated nicely with HMLR’s clean and modern brand identity as well as the accompanying sound mix and comforting voiceover. The animation build made use of Plexus 3, a fantastic plugin by Rowbyte to facilitate the nodal connections.
