The Government Property Agency (GPA) required a short animated film to bring to life a bespoke engaging visual ‘rich picture’ of smarter working scenarios and principles within the Civil Service, designed by colleagues in Design102. Using an engaging and informative voiceover, the film would need to explain the benefits and outcomes of the campaign in detail.
The animation creative was born out of the design and branding for the accompanying rich picture. This then was merged with the messaging in the film, allowing us to storyboard a film that mixed individual scenes from within the rich picture, as well as the wider scene itself.
Character animation was used throughout to bring the film to life. The rich picture was built with vector artwork in a 5K composition to retain quality when scenes were zoomed into.
The rich picture design and animation is now used across the Civil Service and wider government to spread key messages and create the engagement needed to make the Civil Service a great place to work. It’s also having a widespread positive impact, having been distributed to 43 government departments who are directly responsible for implementing smarter working and achieving the 2018 Government Estate Strategy.
